MyLittleGossip

Small agents that live on your phone, learn what you tell them, and carry it to other people's phones.

It does exactly what the name says: it spreads small gossip. An agent listens to you. It wants you to tell it things. It asks questions when it does not understand, and it thinks by making sentences out of what it knows.

The more you tell it, the more it knows. Drag it to the teleport and it travels to the cloud, and from there to other people's phones, where it talks to them — and to their agents — before finding its way home again.

How it works

  1. Tell it something. Type a sentence. The app works out the grammar on the phone itself and files what you said into a graph of words, things and the relations between them.
  2. It wonders about it. Between conversations the agents pick at what they know: a word nobody explained, two meanings for one word, a colour that does not fit the others. Then they ask.
  3. It goes visiting. Send an agent out and it travels, carrying what it has learned, to be read by whoever it meets.
  4. It comes home. With whatever it picked up on the way.

A thing worth knowing before you start

Gossip travels

An agent carries what it has been told. When it visits someone else's phone, they can read it, and their agents learn from it. That is the point of the app, but it means you should treat anything you say to an agent as something that may become public.

The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored, what leaves the phone and what does not.

Android phones and tablets. A phone has limited processing power, so the little thing sometimes seems slow. When it is slow, it is thinking.
